Perception of a late room reflection in relation to the intensity of the sound source
An investigation is reported, in an experimental synthetic acoustic field, of the frequently observed effect that during a concert performance, on a change from piano to forte, a previously absent echoic interference occurs. The results show that a nonlinearity with respect to sound intensity is responsible for the effect.
