The use of photothermal microscopy to obtain superficial and in-depth images, by means of the interaction of a thermal wave with the analyzed material, has reached great interest due to its numerous applications. The application of the photopyroelectric microscopy technique to obtain images of plant leaves is presented in this article. In the exper...

The thermal diffusivity of solid samples is systematically underestimated when using the photopyroelectric technique in the standard back configuration, due to the presence of the coupling fluid between the sample and detector. In this study, a new method is proposed to overcome this issue. It relies on the use of (a) a transparent pyroelectric sen...

Thermal-diffusivity (D) and thermal-effusivity (e) measurements were carried out in l-cysteine nanoliquids l-cysteine in combination with Au nanoparticles and protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) nanofluid) by using thermal lens spectrometry (TLS) and photopyroelectric (PPE) techniques. The TLS technique was used in the two mismatched mode experimental configu...

The thermal lens spectrometry (TLS) technique was used to obtain the thermal diffusivity of solutions containing gold nanoparticles (15 nm average diameter) at different pH values. TLS, in a mode-mismatched dual beam configuration, provides a reliable alternative to measure, with high sensitivity, the thermal diffusivities of semitransparent materi...

Primarily, newly developed, high sensitive and accurate methods for thermal characterization of liquids using photothermal radiometry are presented. Two experimental configurations are suggested, tested and validated with usual liquid materials. These methods are used to study polymer dispersed liquid crystal samples. Dynamic thermal properties of ...

A simple and accurate method for the determination of Fe(II) species in liquid solutions was developed. The measurement principle was realized by the photothermal effect and performed by the use of a thermal lens microscope (TLM) in its optimized, mode-mismatched configuration with a counter-propagating probe beam (PB) and an excitation beam (EB). ...

The photopyroelectric (PPE) technique is one of the photothermal (PT) methods mostly used for phase transitions investigations. In this paper, we want to compare the PPE results with those obtained using another, recently developed PT method [the photothermoelectric (PTE) calorimetry] for the same purpose of detecting phase transitions. The well-kn...
