Locations with high direct normal irradiance DNI hold significant potential for not only sustainable but also dispatchable electricity generation using concentrated solar power CSP technology Missing financial and regulatory frameworks weak economies alongside the abundance of cheap fossil fuels in countries with high DNI lead to low development and stagnating costs of CSP As CSP costs may decrease significantly with increased installations the successful integration of CSP with proven low-cost technologies e g photovoltaics PV or natural gas NG is believed to facilitate the technologies cost reduction Different methods of integration have been proposed in literature Initially CSP integration with NG in integrated solar combined-cycle ISCC and lately integration with PV Different configurations technologies and integration purposes have been studied under different local conditions and assumptions Yet no extensive comparative exergy-based analysis has been conducted This work aims to assess the performance of CSP integrated systems and quantify the cost reduction potential through various hybridization methods under the same assumptions Using different technologies working fluids and locations of integration as well as a realistic generation profile in a suitable location the comparative analysis is conducted including also other potential competing technologies A total of 14 configurations were therefore designed and simulated using EBSILON Professional The configurations included standalone and integrated CSP systems featuring the use of each CSP technology in conjunction with either PV as collocation and hybrid concepts or NG All systems were analysed in comparative exergy-based and economic analyses An exergoeconomic analysis was further undertaken for the most cost-efficient ISCC and CSP-PV configurations to identify costs associated with thermodynamic inefficiencies and the potential for further cost reduction CSP integration through ISCC reaches low levelized cost of electricity LCOE and high exergetic efficiency 40 7 43 1 MWh 54 3 57 3 but with low CSP contribution of 10 CSP-PV systems in contrast offer electricity production from 100 solar energy For collocation systems the LCOE and exergetic efficiency range between 78 4 102 7 MWh and 21 6 22 7 respectively whereas hybrid systems reach lower LCOE at reduced exergetic efficiency 71 5 73 6 MWh and 16 2 16 4 The hybrid parabolic trough collector PTC -PV configuration achieves the most significant reduction of the overall plant specific investment cost 55 and LCOE 48 if compared to the standalone configuration using the same CSP technology Yet a complete replacement of CSP with PV capacity combined with either thermal storage or Li-ion batteries was found not to result in the optimal economic performance The future projections for the most cost-efficient ISCC and hybrid CSP-PV systems were compared by varying the NG escalation rate and the PV specific investment costs The conservative scenario 4 7 MMBtu 378 kW showed that the hybrid CSP-PV becomes competitive at a daily operation of 18 5 hours as both plants reach a LCOE of 43 0 MWh This work quantifies the significance of improvement in CSP economic performance through different methods of integration reducing the specific investment costs and LCOE to less than half Moreover the most suitable integration locations technologies and working fluids were identified Taking into account the identified benefits of the different technologies hybridization could facilitate a gradual increase in CSP installed capacity in many developing countries thus paving the way for economies of scale for further expansion of the technology at a larger magnitude Trotz erheblichem Potenzial f r eine nicht nur nachhaltige sondern auch bedarfsgerechte Stromerzeugung mit Hilfe konzentrierter Solarthermie CSP Concentrated Solar Power verzeichnet die Technologie eine nur geringe Entwicklung und stagnierend hohe Kosten Grund hierf r ist das Fehlen geeigneter finanzieller und regulatorischer Rahmenbedingungen schwache Volkswirtschaften und ein berfluss an billigen fossilen Brennstoffen in L ndern mit hoher Direktstrahlung DNI Erwartungsgem sinken spezifische Kosten mit zunehmenden Installationen economies of scale Mithilfe der Integration von CSP mit bew hrten kosteng nstigeren Technologien wie Photovoltaik PV oder Erdgas NG sollen die Technologiekosten gesenkt und neue Investitionen in CSP initiiert werden Verschiedene Integrationsmethoden sind der Literatur zu entnehmen zun chst die Integration von CSP mit Erdgas in integrierten solaren Gas-und-Dampf-Kombikraftwerken ISCC und in j ngst die Integration mit PV Verschiedene Konfigurationen Technologien und Integrationszwecke wurden unter verschiedenen lokalen Bedingungen und Annahmen untersucht Eine umfassende vergleichende exergiebasierte Analyse wurde jedoch bisher nicht durchgef hrt Diese Arbeit zielt darauf ab die Leistung von integrierten CSP-Systemen zu bewerten und das Kostensenkungspotenzial durch verschiedene Hybridisierungsmethoden unter denselben Annahmen zu quantifizieren wobei verschiedene Technologien Arbeitsfl ssigkeiten und Integrationsstellen und -zwecke sowie ein realistisches Erzeugungsprofil an einem geeigneten Standort verwendet werden Dar ber hinaus schlie t die vergleichende Analyse auch andere potenzielle Konkurrenztechnologien ein In dieser Arbeit wurden insgesamt 14 Anlagenkonfigurationen mit EBSILON Professional entworfen und simuliert Die Konfigurationen umfassten eigenst ndige und integrierte CSP-Systeme bei denen verschiedene CSP-Technologien entweder in Verbindung mit PV als Kollokations- oder Hybridkonzepte oder mit NG eingesetzt wurden Alle Systeme wurden in vergleichenden exergiebasierten und wirtschaftlichen Analysen untersucht F r die kosteneffizientesten ISCC- und CSP-PV-Konfigurationen wurde au erdem eine exergo konomische Analyse durchgef hrt um Kosten der thermodynamischen Ineffizienzen und das weiterf hrende Kostensenkungspotential zu ermitteln Die niedrigsten Stromgestehungskosten LCOE sowie h heren exergetischen Wirkungsgrade wurden von ISCC Konfigurationen erreicht 40 7 - 43 1 MWh 54 3 - 57 3 jedoch ist der CSP-Anteil an der Stromerzeugungskapazit t geringer als 10 CSP-PV-Systeme hingegen erzeugen zu 100 nachhaltigen Strom aus Sonnenenergie Bei Kollokationssystemen liegen die LCOE und der exergetische Wirkungsgrad zwischen 78 4 - 102 7 MWh bzw 21 6 - 22 7 w hrend Hybridsysteme niedrigere LCOE jedoch auch Einbu en hinsichtlich des exergetischen Wirkungsgrad verzeichnet 71 5 - 73 6 MWh und 16 2 - 16 4 Die hybride PTC-PV-Konfiguration mit Parabolic Trough Kollektoren erzielt die bedeutendste Kostensenkung bzgl der anlagenspezifischen Gesamtinvestitionen um 55 und der Stromgestehungskosten um 48 im Vergleich zu einer alleinstehenden CSP-Anlage derselben Technologie Ein vollst ndiger Ersatz von CSP durch PV-Kapazit t in Kombination mit thermischer Speicherung oder Li-Ionen-Batterien f hrt jedoch nicht zu einer optimalen Wirtschaftlichkeit F r die kosteneffizienteste Konfiguration der ISCC- und der hybriden CSP-PV-Systeme wurden Zukunftsszenarien erstellt und Ihre Sensitivit t hinsichtlich der NG-Preissteigerungsrate und der spezifischen Investitionskosten von PV verglichen Das konservative Szenario 4 7 MMBtu 378 kW zeigte dass das hybride CSP-PV-Systeme ab 18 5 t glichen Betriebsstunden wettbewerbsf hig werden 43 0 MWh Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit wurde die Verbesserung der Wirtschaftlichkeit von CSP-Anlagen mithilfe verschiedener Integrationsmethoden erstmalig unter einheitlichen Annahmen quantifiziert und verglichen Die spezifischen Investitionskosten und LCOE werden dabei auf weniger als die H lfte reduziert Dar ber hinaus wurden die am besten geeigneten Technologien Arbeitsmittel und Integrationszwecke ermittelt Unter Ber cksichtigung der ermittelten Vorteile der verschiedenen Technologien k nnte die Hybridisierung einen allm hlichen Anstieg der installierten CSP-Kapazit t in vielen Entwicklungsl ndern erm glichen und so den Weg f r Skaleneffekte f r den deutlich gesteigerten Ausbau der Technologie ebnen
