In this paper, we analyse functional regions by using two graph theoretical methods, walktrap algorithm and chains' approach. The quality of the regionalization procedure is analysed by applying fuzzy set theory. The application for Slovenia shows that walktrap algorithm calculates more self-contained functional regions than chains' approach.

Ultrasonic-assisted magnetic abrasive finishing (UAMAF) is an advanced abrasive finishing process that finishes a workpiece surface effectually when compared to a traditional magnetic abrasive finishing process in the order of nanometer. A change of surface roughness and material removal rate are two important factors determining the efficacy of th...

In this paper, the concept of fuzzy normed ring is introduced and some basic properties related to it are established. Our definition of normed rings on fuzzy sets leads to a new structure, which we call a fuzzy normed ring. We define fuzzy normed ring homomorphism, fuzzy normed subring, fuzzy normed ideal, fuzzy normed prime ideal, and fuzzy norme...

In this paper, new entropy measures for hesitant fuzzy sets (HFSs) are proposed. Measuring uncertainty for an HFS is computed by an amount of distinction between an HFS and its complement. Hausdorff metric is used to calculate a distance between an HFS and its complement which assists us to construct novel entropy of HFSs. An axiomatic definition o...

Multiple attribute decision analysis (MADA) is still a hot issue. In order to represent information of attribute more flexibly and intuitively, quantitative and qualitative data are involved in real-world applications. In this paper, a new methodology to deal with MADA problem based on D numbers is proposed. Different with other existing methods, t...

The development of additive manufacturing allows structures with highly complex shapes to be produced. Complex lattice shapes are particularly interesting in the context of lightweight structures. However, although the use of this technology is growing in numerous engineering domains, this one is not enough matured and the correlations between the ...

Multi-objective optimization under uncertainty has gained considerable attention in recent years due to its practical applications in real-life. Many studies have been conducted on this topic, but almost all of them transformed the problem into a mono-objective one or just neglected the effects of uncertainty on the outcomes. This paper addresses s...

The rule induction process could be conceived as a search process, and hence an evaluation metric is needed to estimate the quality of rules found in the search space and to direct the search towards the best rule. The evaluation measure is the most influential inductive bias in rule learning. It is therefore important to investigate its influence ...

An advantage of the probabilistic approach is the exploitation of the observed probability values in order to test the goodness-of-fit for the examined theoretical probability distribution function (pdf). Since in fact, the interest of the engineers is to determine the hydrological variable which corresponds to a selected return period, a fuzzy lin...
