A methodology for hazard investigation based on the integration of a mathematical model approach into hazard and operability analysis is presented. This approach is based on mathematical modelling of a process unit where both steady-state analysis, including analysis of the steady states multiplicity and stability, and dynamic simulation are used. ...

To report our experience with the treatment of 34 patients with SVC syndrome from neoplastic origin using the Wallstent. Thirty-four patients were treated between January 2000 and February 2007: 21 males and 13 females, aged 44-81 years, with non-small-cell lung carcinoma in 27 cases (79%), small-cell lung carcinoma in 5 cases (15%) and metastatic ...

Obstetrician-gynecologists used abdominal electrohysterography (EHG) to monitor uterine activity in 8 women admitted to the hospital in Amiens, France. The 1st group consisted of 3 women experiencing spontaneous contractions at 19-34 weeks gestation relating to preterm labor. The 2nd group were women undergoing induced abortion at 18-26 weeks gesta...

The instants of time emission of photoelectrons generated by a detector immersed in an optical field constitute a point compound Poisson process. A complete definition of such a process is introduced to calculate some average values of the distribution. The shot noise due to this point process is also considered and we study the difference .between...

This paper discusses the comparison between the class of spherically invariant processes and a particular class of Gaussian compound processes. We give a simple expression for the probability distribution and calculate some expectation values. The comparison shows that spherically invariant processes are slightly more general.
