Abstract

• YAP expression was increased in liver tissue of mice with liver cirrhosis and ACLF. • Ferroptosis and necroptosis occurred during the development of liver cirrhosis and ACLF, and could be abrogated by inhibition of YAP. • Plasma YAP levels were increased with the occurrence of CHB, HBV-related liver cirrhosis and ACLF in human patients, and accompanied by decreased GPX4 and increased ACSL4 and RIPK3 levels. • YAP inhibition attenuated liver fibrosis and ACLF through the regulation of ferroptosis and necroptosis.
