Abstract
A table provides information on Preveon (adefovir dipivoxil, PMEA), a nucleotide analog. An experimental drug available through expanded access, it is taken once daily as a component of combination therapy. Preveon also appears to have activity against various herpes viruses and hepatitis B. The drug is associated with serious kidney damage that is generally reversible after dose discontinuation. Gilead Sciences, the drug's manufacturer, a doctor, and a PWA activist offer comments. Contact information is provided.
