Abstract
This study concerns Oxelösund's libraries that today have a website with low usefulness. This study follows a work where one want to notice usefulness aspects within design of a public website. The aim with this study is that with help of theories notice usefulness aspects within design of a public website and to sketch a design proposal for Oxelösund's library website. What are the factors that are important for a library website, on the basis of a user perspective? The users should easily be able to find the information they are looking for. The website should attract the users and meet their needs. In order to proceed I performed interviews and an observation. A website should be simple, the users should not need to think more than necessary in order to understand how one finds the information one are looking for.Through interviews, an observation and theory elucidate this study the factors that are crucial in order for a user to experience usefulness on a library website. Confusing functions along with insufficient information lead to poorer usefulness and then also poorer user experience. I have found terms, within user centered design and design of graphical interface, as needed to think of. If the library's website does not meet the requirements that the user have can it lead to that the library's visit number decreases. My research question is: Which usefulness aspects are central in design of a website for a public activity that for example a library website?I have responded the question through using different methods, interviews and an observation that together gave a design proposal. The methods can each be appropriate, but most often combined with each other in order to increase the result's reliability. / Validerat; 20150921 (global_studentproject_submitter)
