On the use of dual Reggeon vertices for untwisted and twisted scalar fields

Abstract

We point out certain simplifying features in the calculation of higher genus multi-Reggeon vertices for the (untwisted) bosonic string which appear when using the dual Reggeon vertex instead of the standard three vertex. In the case of twisted scalar fields we show that the form of the twisted (one-particle) emission vertex recently discussed by Frenkel, Lepowsky and Meurman, Corrigan and Hollowood, and by Dolan, Goddard and Montague is a direct consequence of a special normal ordering prescription which is closely related to the one used earlier in the fermion emission vertex and its generalization the dual Ramond vertex. We also explain why this particular prescription must be chosen. Finally we derive the dual Reggeon vertex for twisted scalars.
