Abstract

Taking charge : This work provides direct evidence of the importance of Mn2+ in rechargeable aqueous Zn–MnO2 batteries. The charging process is implemented by the electrodeposition of MnO2, thus improving the reversibility by the availability of Mn2+ in the solution. A conversion reaction between MnO2 and MnOOH occurs, rather than Zn2+ intercalation into MnO2.
