Abstract

The reactions of (P)2PtCl2 with a large excess of 1,4-bis(ethynyl)benzene catalyzed with copper(I) iodide gave (P)2Pt(C≡CC6H4C≡CH)2 [P= PPh3, ½ (Ph2PC5H4)2Fe (dppf)] in high yields. The corresponding 1:2 metal to ligand ratio reaction produced unidentified orange solids. The complexes (P)2Pt(C≡CC6H4C≡CH)2 have been characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C{1H}-NMR, 31P{1H}-NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis.
