Abstract

Eight levels of Xe137 and seven of Xe135 were observed in the Xe136(d, p) and Xe136(d, t) reactions. The angular distributions of the proton and triton groups were analyzed using zero-range distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations to extract spectroscopic information. Spin and parity assignments for most of the observed states were attempted. Comparison with (d, p) and (d, t) reaction on Ba138, Ce120, and Nd142 reveals that the multiplicity of the hole states in the N=81 isotones is much lower than that of the particle states in the N=83 isotones.
