Abstract
Out of a total of 4, 282 operations performed during the p eriod of 12 years 1950 to 1961 in the Department of Urology of Kyoto University Hospital, 884 were nephrectomies, 113 pyelolithotomies, 304 ureterolithotomies and 169 prostatectomies. Of late, general anesthesia has become to be much more frequently used than others, particularly in surgery of the upper urinary tract. The average blood loss of nephrectomy, py e lolithotomy, ureterolithotomy and prostatectomy was 256 g, 264 g, 65 g and 599 g in weight respectively. DICYNONE, a hemostatica, was intramuscul a r ly administered to 60 cases of such urological operations as nephrectomies, pyelolithotomies, ureterolithotomies and prostatectomies, giving a excellent effect in reducing the average blood lose in those operations.
