Abstract

It is shown that for a nucleon described as three relativistic quarks confined in scalar and scalar-vector potentials of arbitrary form, the integrated spin-dependent structure functions g1n=0 and g1p=gA/6. This result is independent of the details of the confining potentials. Hence the success of the model in terms of one (gA or g1P) guarantees a failure in terms of the other.
