Abstract

Physicians need to have a thorough understanding of erectile dysfunction (ED), as more and more of their male patients come forward seeking treatment for this condition. Recent research shows that ED affects not only the patient's level of physical and sexual satisfaction, but his levels of emotional satisfaction and general happiness as well. Fortunately, new developments in the pharmacologic treatment of ED give physicians and their patients a wider and more effective array of treatment options with which to address this potentially distressing condition.
