Abstract

Under the assumption that the electromagnetic (E.M.) mass splittings within the pseudoscalar and vector-meson octets self-consistently generate each other (at least in part), we compute the ρ±−ρ0 mass difference in terms of the vector-pseudoscalar-pseudoscalar (VPP) coupling strength g24π and the vector-vector-pseudoscalar (VVP) coupling strength h24π. The requirement that g2 and h2 be in reasonable agreement with experiment strongly favors a small absolute value for Mρ±−Mρ0, with a negative value not ruled out.
