Abstract

The measurement of $\Re(\epsilon'/\epsilon)$ proceeds by counting the number of decays from a $K_{S}$ beam into both $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ and $\pi^{0}\pi^{0}$ within a given energy range and fiducial region and counting the number of decays into the same modes from a $K_{L}$ beam in the same energy and fiducial region. These four numbers are then corrected for background, acceptance, and the influence of uncorrelated activity in the detectors and are used to calculate $\Re$. By collecting the data for both the $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ and $\pi^{0}\pi^{0}$ events simultaneously, the variation of the flux of particles cancels out.
