Abstract

Slips, collisions and other accidental movement disturbances are very common in work situations and occur in every occupational activity sector. Research into these accidents was conducted at a hospital, based on analysing collectively and in-depth cases of accidents involving movement disturbance. This revealed accident factors of various types as closely associated with the physical environment and task performed as with the work organisation. These factors were categorised under the heading of generic factors and the difference between a situation not causing an accident and a situation causing an accident was characterised for Occupational Accidents with Movement Disturbance (OAMD). Our results provided confirmation of the importance of extracting recurrent scenarios for OAMD in each activity sector and of progressing, from a methodological standpoint, in building these types of scenarios. The concept of “circumstantial hazard” introduced to model the OAMD proved to be wholly relevant in cases of accidents occurring in a hospital environment.
