Abstract

David R. Loy considers the implications of Buddhist teachings for the problems of economic development. From a Buddhist perspective, he argues it is not surprising that the institutional efforts of the last 50 years have actually aggravated the social problems they were supposed to solve. The development approach still taken for granted today is better understood as in itself the problem.
