The organic agriculture in Egypt

This report tackles the current situation and potential of organic agriculture (OA) in the context of Egyptian agricultural economy. The report contains five sections as well as the introduction. The introduction presents an overview of Egyptian agricultural sector as well as organic agriculture (OA) in global context. The second presents an overview of organic agriculture in Egypt, while the third section discusses the institutional framework of organic agriculture in Egypt. The fourth section shows the current situation of management and certification of OA in Egypt. The 5th section presents challenges facing expansion of organic agriculture. Finally, in the last section, an assessment of organic sector development in Egypt is discussed.
