Abstract

•A coupled optimization problem of multiple-satellite orbital transfer is solved.•The study involves a coupled formulation of terminal conditions of the satellites.•A comparison between the coupled and uncoupled solution methods is made.•Examples show that the coupled method results in propellant savings of about 5%.
