Abstract

Restraint use by child occupants has been shown to reduce morbidity and mortality. The adequacy of restraint and risk of injury, in particular abdominal injury, has not been demonstrated. The authors note a significant decrease in the risk of abdominal injury associated with optimal child occupant restraint.
