Abstract

We consider the nonperturbative unification scenario proposed by Maiani, Parisi and Petronzio in N =2 supersymmetric extensions of the standard model. Low-energy gauge coupling constants are computed using two-loop renormalization group equations, with a mass spectrum deduced from simple assumptions on the soft terms necessary to break symmetries and to generate chiral fermions. Agreement with the experimental values is obtained when the nonperturbative unification scale is close to the Planck scale.
