Abstract

A model is presented for the decay K2→π0γγ, in which the amplitude is determined in terms of the amplitude for K2→π+π−π0. The decay rate is found to be 13 sec−1. Using unitarity, a model-independent lower bound is obtained on the spectrum and decay rate of this reaction in the kinematical region s>M2−7μ2, where s is the invariant mass squared of the photon pair and M and μ are the kaon and pion masses.
