Abstract : Sustainable development has become more important year after year. The periodic meetings and discussions on the subject, since the Stockholm Conference in 1972, have been promoting debates and awareness among the world population about the need for action towards sustainability. Furthermore, there is a commitment by the governments of some nations to create specific legislation on this subject and also a change in the behavior of the consumer who, more conscious and responsible, has been looking for products more sustainable or manufactured by companies concerned to sustainable development of their manufacturing activities. In this context that the search for more sustainable production, in the broadest sense of the word, is developed by production of products that are economically viable, use processes that conserve energy and other natural resources, and bring safety and well-being to customers, employees and all community impacted by the activity. With the purpose of collaborating with these needs within the manufacturing processes, this work aims to develop a method to assist in the task of replacing equipment that no longer perform satisfactorily in function of economic, environmental and social indicators. The proposal is to evaluate obsolescence of machines from manufacturing processes in function of these three indicators that form the concept known as Triple Bottom Line. For this, a structured method was developed in seven steps, based on the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) multicriteria analysis, which allows the achievement of a sustainability index for evaluation of machine obsolescence. The study was applied to a group of high speed stamping machines known as high speed presses as an initial evaluation method, but there are no restrictions for application in other types of equipment in the manufacturing process. In addition, to aid the users in this method and to make diffusion easier, a computer program was developed for web application that allows use in different computers and creation of a database of the evaluations already done.
