Abstract
Financial and leave incentives are now available to those in Sri Lanka undergoing voluntary sterilization. Under a scheme previously reported in Open File which has come into effect from January 1, 1980, employees in the public and private sectors and unemployed married persons who undergo voluntary sterilization receive a cash incentive of about 3 pounds from the government, and employees in the public sector are entitled to 7 days paid leave for a tubectomy and 3 days paid leave for a vasectomy. Employers in the private sector have been asked to grant the same leave incentives.
