Abstract

The Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS) has received renewal funding from NIAID, along with support for two new state-of-the-art laboratories. The new laboratories are designed to study the factors that contribute to the progression of HIV disease and destruction of the immune system as well as those factors that may prevent or protect against HIV progression. The new clinical sites will be located in Baltimore (Maryland), Chicago (Illinois), Los Angeles (California), and Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania). Pathogenesis labs will be at Johns Hopkins and the University of California, Los Angeles.
