Abstract

The Pt198+C13→Po211+γ heavy-ion radiative capture reaction was investigated at 60 and 57 MeV bombarding energies using a rabbit system to search for delayed α particles from the T12=25.5 s isomeric state in Po211. A cross section σ≲1 nb is reported for the total radiative capture cross section averaged over the center of mass energy range Ec.m.∼49−54 MeV. This result is consistent with statistical model calculations. NUCLEAR REACTIONS Pt198+C13, E=57−60 MeV; measured upper limit for radiative capture cross section to T12=25.5 s isomeric state in Po211; calculated cross sections. Enriched targets. Si surface barrier detector.
