Abstract

We calculate the one-loop effective action for scalar and spinor electrodynamics in euclidean de Sitter space in the unitary gauge using the covariant Vilkovisky-DeWitt procedure. The resulting effective action is gauge independent. Our calculations are performed to third order in the Riemann tensor, and disagree with those of other authors obtained in specific gauges.
