Influence of density of Bi1.6Pb0.4Sr2Ca2Cu3Oxsuperconducting pellets on their temperature dependence of thermal conductivity

Abstract

Abstract We report our results on the temperature dependence of Meissner expulsion, electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity of Bi 1.6Pb 0.4Sr 2Ca 2Cu 3O x superconducting pellets having different densities. The magnitude of peak thermal conductivity and the nature of thermal conductivity rise below T c are strongly influenced by the sample's density and depend on the volume fraction of the superconducting phase in the pellet close to T 2. A linear dependence of the slope of electrical resistivity abote T c and the thermal conductivity maximum below T c is seen from our data. Tewordt and Wolkhausen expression for thermal conductivity of ceramic superconductors accounts well our measured thermal conductivity data between 10 and 150K.
