Abstract

Abstract The fluorinated bis/mono β-sultones, [CF 2( O)CF(S O 2)CF 2] 2 and CF 2CF(CF 2) 2CF( SO 2)CF 2(O) , 1 and 2 are formed via the reaction of sulfur trioxide with 1,5-perfluorohexadiene. In the presence of NaF, 2 and 1 rearranged to give the isomeric products, CF 2CF(CF 2) 2CF(SO 2F)C(O)F and [FC(O)CF(SO 2F)CF 2] 2, Respectively. New sulfonyl fluoride esters have been prepared from allyl alcohol and the sultones 1 and 2 ; polymerization of these esters has also been achieved.
