Abstract

The minor A form of a calcium binding protein from bovine intestine has been crystallized from ammonium sulfate, at alkaline pH. Large well-formed crystals were obtained, suitable for high resolution X-ray analysis. The crystals are orthorhombic, space group P2 12 12, with cell dimensions 56·3×43·0×29·4 Å, and have one molecule per asymmetric unit. The amino acid sequence contains several unusual features which may be related to the calcium binding properties.
