Abstract We give in this work, analytical expressions of the geometric factor for the resistivity determination of ohmic thin disks and spheres by the four probes method. In order to simplify the use of these expressions we fitted them with simple polynomials. We also introduced a method to determine the resistivity anisotropy of anisotropic cylindrical samples. Analytical expressions for the transverse and in-plane resistances were derived and they were then used to give a polynomial fit of the effective anisotropy in function of their ratio. Our method was applied to determine the room temperature in-plane and transverse resistivity of four superconducting disks and the resistivity of an industrial Fe–Cr ball.
