The presents study aims to gain deeper knowledge of the novel Tänk, om jag gifte mig med prästen! by Ester Lindin, first published 1940. The research questions are centered around the life of Eva Örn, the main character, and how her private and professional life is developed in the rural landscape of 1930-40s Sweden. The plot is set against the backdrop of a conservative and patriarchal society, a context in which life turns problematic and full of tensions for Eva Öhrn. The study concludes that the novel is reflecting several important and problematic issues in the 1930-40s Swedish society, as well as school system.
