Abstract

Abstract A formula is given which relates the Nernst-Ettingshausen coefficient to the Hall effect and the thermoelectric power, assuming the “side jump” mechanism for the Hall effect to be dominant. Using this formula, the experimental data can be analysed to give the variation of the Hall effect with electron energy. Results of this analysis are consistent with observed behaviour of the Hall effect on alloying.
