Abstract

Abstract Radiotracer and voltammetric evidence is presented that ferrocyanides, ferricyanides and cyanides are chemisorbed on platinized and smooth platinum electrodes, both in acidic and neutral electrolytes. It is proposed that the surface bonding results from the double-donoring properties of CN − ligands which act as a bridged group of the end-on type species like Pt←N≡C−Fe(CN) 5 n− .
