Abstract The 2 cases reported show that a combination of surgical and prosthodontic treatment for this lesion is both sound in its physiologic concept and necessary to the psychologic needs of the patient. The utilization of treatment denture splints and bases promoted postoperative comfort and healing by stimulation and conditioning of the alveolar tissues, with apparent preservation of the underlying tissue. The support of the facial and masticatory musculature was maintained. The acceptance by the patient of the heat-cured dentures with a changed maxillomandibular relationship was easily accomplished. Physiologically and psychologically, the patient's comfort was maintained throughout the entire procedure.
