Abstract

Graphical abstract A new heteropolyacid-based polymeric hybrid was synthesized by combining of newly task-specific designed ionic polymer of SO3H-functionalized ionic liquid with Keggin heteropolyanion. The polymeric hybrid was revealed to be a highly active and selective solid catalyst for various esterification reactions, and could be easily recovered and quite steadily reused. Highlights ► A new polymeric hybrid is prepared with acidic poly(ionic liquid) and heteropolyacid. ► The hybrid catalyst leads to liquid–solid heterogeneous esterification reactions. ► The hybrid catalyst gives high conversions and selectivity in various esterifications. ► The catalyst shows convenient recovery, steady reuse, and simple preparation.
