Abstract

Abstract Allele frequencies and forensic parameters for 20 autosomal STR loci included in the PowerPlex® 21 System (Promega Corp, USA) were estimated in a sample of 907 unrelated individuals from urban areas of four provinces from Central and Northwestern regions of Argentina, namely Catamarca, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, Buenos Aires (Region 1; N=464), and three from Southern region, i.e. Neuquén, Chubut, and Santa Cruz (Region 2; N=443). No significant deviations from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium were found. Comparisons with other previously studied populations were also done.
