Abstract All the processes concerning the formation and development of the China Seas took place on the background of the interactions between the Asian continent and the Pacific Ocean. As conclusions drawn from evidence given in various parts of this book, three major features in the geological history of the China Seas are discussed in this chapter: relatively young age of formation, effect of topographic reversal of East Asia, and restricted connection with the open ocean.
