Abstract Three patients with volvulus of the afferent loop are described. Obstruction resulted from volvulus of a redundant afferent loop. Presenting symptoms were secondary to pancreatitis in two patients. Resection of the redundant portion of the afferent loop and jejunojejunostomy relieved the symptoms of afferent loop obstruction and prevented the recurrence of pancreatitis in these patients. Infarction of a long segment of the afferent loop was treated in a third patient by resection of the afferent loop and gastrojejunostomy with creation of a new stoma.
