Abstract

Abstract In the selective flocculation process, selectivity exhibited during single mineral tests is often lost when separation of mixed minerals is attempted. Recently, heteroflocculation has been shown to be another major cause of loss in selectivity. A mathematical model with predictive capabilities to minimize heteroflocculation is discussed, and theoretical results are compared with experimental data obtained for mixtures of dolomite with apatite/quartz/alumina.
