Abstract

Abstract After a brief review and optical model analysis of electric polarizability of the deuteron, continuum discretized coupled channels (CDCC) analysis is presented for 208 Pb(d, d) elastic scattering around 3–7 MeV. Effective deuteron polarizability is extracted from the CDCC analysis. Importance of coupling of 3P states with 3S and 3D scattering states is reported.
