Abstract

Abstract %Successful segment VIII resection under continuous Pringle maneuver has been performed on a cirrhotic patient, using a new technique that combined the methods of in situ liver cooling and subsequent temporary decompression of the portal system. This procedure prevents the major drawbacks of the Pringle maneuver: the ischemic injury of the liver and the abdominal visceral venous stagnation, particularly when performed on the patient with chronic liver disease.
