5th and 6th graders have shown different preferences in English learning activities. The materials containing games, songs and chants which attracted 3rd and 4th graders' interests and participation have failed to motivate 5 th and 6th graders. One solution to these diminishing interests of 5th and 6th graders is introducing ICT into the English classroom. The study created an English teaching and learning model using ICT and applied it to sample classes (372 students of 4 classes each grade in Taejon and Seoul area) of 5th and 6th graders with reference to the students' interest, confidence and participation in English learning. The study discovered the students' motivation in English learning. The study discovered the students' motivation in English learning improved significantly when the post-test was compared to the pre-test quantitatively. Also, the analysis of the responses to open survey questions of both students and teachers attempted to explain the improvement qualitatively. Finally, the study listed issues of using ICT for English classes and problems that remain to be solved for a sound combination of ICT and English classes.
