Abstract

This paper describes a systematic approach for the characterization of a balancing machine performance. The objective of this study is to determine the achievable accuracy in balancing similar rigid rotating machines. Along with the theoretical work, experimental examples are presented for the identification of calibration, random and systematic inaccuracies. The method has been applied here for a rigid rotor only, but it is of general nature and can be extended to more general problems.
