Abstract

Abstract Kinetics of transient populations of the locally excited state and CT states produced due to electron transfer processes in donor—acceptor—donor (DAD) or acceptor—donor—acceptor (ADA) molecules in liquid solutions are investigated. The theoretical approach is based on the Zusman-type kinetic equations and applies to adiabatic and nonadiabatic electron transfer processes. Model calculations for the three-surface model show that for adiabatic processes the rate coefficients may display extreme values in the presence of the finite activation barrier. The effect is particularly strong for the electron transfer process in non-Debye solvents.
