Nucleon-nucleon phase shifts in a nonrelativistic quark model

Abstract

Abstract In the framework of the resonating group model (RGM) the nucleon-nucleon phase shifts have been calculated for all partial waves, using a nonrelativistic reduction of the one-gluon exchange potential, including the tensor- but omitting the spin-orbit part. It is found that only S and P phase shifts differ appreciably from zero, and all of them are negative. The precise value of the S phase shifts depends on the number ΔΔ and hidden color channels taken into account, whereas the P phase shifts do not exhibit such a dependence. The triplet P phases show no splitting for the different total angular momenta.
