Abstract

Abstract The pathology of cardiac tumors is reviewed, including that of myxoma, papillary tumor of the heart valves, rhabdomyoa, lipoma, fibroma, teratoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, angiosarcoma and fibrosarcoma. Particular attention is paid to the macroscopic and histologic features of the cardiac myxoma and to the effects and bizarre clinical features to which it may give rise. The macroscopic and microscopic features of the so-called papilliferous tumor of the heart are also considered in detail. The view that this represents a giant Lambl's excrescence is supported.
