Abstract

Abstract The magnetic properties of R 6Fe 11Al 3 and R 6Fe 12Al 2 compounds with R = Pr and Nd have been investigated by measuring the magnetization of free powder particles at 4.2 K in high magnetic fields. Metamagnetic transitions were found in all four compounds. The transition fields and the saturation magnetization decrease with increasing Al content for both the Pr and the Nd compounds.
